What should our priorities be over the next 10 years to make Chattanooga a more sustainable place to live, work and play?

About this Event

In 2009, Chattanooga published the first Climate Action Plan for the City. Over the past 10 years, over 90% of the goals and objectives set out have been addressed or accomplished!

But as we confront a wide range of challenges from climate-related and economy-related risks, and envision a resilient, thriving community that can respond to them, we have much more to accomplish! In early 2019, green|spaces launched an Integrated Community Sustainability Plan, to help the Chattanooga region continue to take bold and meaningful steps toward reducing our impact on climate change, consider the need to adapt to changing environmental and social conditions, and incorporate ecological design to build local living economies.

The committees consisting of community leaders and industry experts outlined the following as long term visions for Chattanooga:

- Achieve Zero Waste by 2030

- Create Multi-scale systems to support equitable food production and distribution

- Become an anti-extinction community with a focus on native regeneration

- Create Frictionless Transit

- Eliminate human contributed contamination in our watersheds

- Achieve a sustainable, just, and socially equitable city in which residents have a meaningful voice.

The committees have researched best practices from around the nation as other cities strive to achieve similar goals. We are seeking your feedback and support as we continue this process to make Chattanooga a resilient and equitable place for all. Join us at our next public meeting to review detailed outlines and provide feedback on how we can achieve these goals!
