Lunch & Learn: Revolutionizing an Industry to Meet EPA Regulations

Join green|spaces Virtually for our next Lunch & Learn! Free to attend via Zoom!

This month, we are featuring US Stove who, after 150 years in business, is adapting and revolutionizing an industry to be more environmentally friendly and meet new EPA regulations.

“United States Stove Company has been in business for over 150 years and through that time we have seen a lot of economic, political and environmental changes locally, nationally and globally. A big environmental change that has impacted our business is the EPA’s regulations on residential wood and pellet stoves. In 2015, the EPA enhanced its previous standards for residential wood heaters and called for all newly manufactured wood stoves and wood pellet stoves to produce no more than 2 grams of smoke per hour (2.5 for cordwood tested woodstoves). The rule has been phased in, with the expectation that all manufacturers meet this final step of guidelines by May 2020. Due to our ability to constantly adapt and innovate, US Stove has been able to meet these standards and re-certify over 20 stoves, 2nd most of any manufacturer in our industry, well within the deadline.”
