Regenerative Design Summit

A two-day event with both general and technical education about how to design and build buildings that go beyond doing less harm and start doing more good for people, the planet, and community prosperity.

Skills were put to the test with a half-day design challenge on August 10 focused on green|spaces’ future Living Building.

Thank you to the Kendeda Fund and the Lyndhurst Foundation for their support of the Regenerative Design Summit.

More information about the summit

The green|spaces Regenerative Design Summit provided an opportunity for community leaders, community members, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and financiers to learn both why and howwe can build a better world. Thanks to the Kendeda Fund and the Lyndhurst Foundation for their generous support of this event and project.

August 9 focused on education with a lineup of diverse speakers with hands-on experience.

August 10 focused on a design workshop where teams practiced what they learned and helped design Chattanooga’s first Living Building. Attendees were the first to receive RFPs related to green|spaces’ Living Building.

Background Information

In 2007, green|spaces led the way to developing buildings that did less harm with our current LEED Platinum office at 63 Main St in Chattanooga, Tennessee and 43 other LEED projects.

In 2014, we embarked on demonstrating how net zero capable homes could be built at market rate and sold at market rate and completed four NextGen Homes by 2018.

On August 9, 2022, we began the next phase, where buildings go beyond doing less harm and doing more good as we began developing a Living Building that will become green|spaces’ future headquarters. Projects like the Bullitt Center in Seattle and the Kendeda Building in Atlanta have established a trail that we intend to follow as we develop a new headquarters for green|spaces.
