Matt McLelland is the VP of Sustainability and Innovation for Covenant Logistics

Matt McLelland is the VP of Sustainability and Innovation for Covenant Logistics (NASDAQ: CVLG), a premium service provider of transportation and warehousing services with focus on expedited delivery, temperature-controlled products, regional, and long-haul delivery. McLelland is responsible for leading all sustainability, CSR, and ESG initiatives and working with customers to help them achieve their Scope 3 initiatives. His primary focus is decarbonization of the class 8 trucking space with emphasis on initiatives around electrification, autonomous vehicles, alternative fuels, aerodynamics, and meeting with new startups in an on-going effort to guiding Covenant’s strategy of providing more affordable, safer, and sustainable delivery of products to our customers. McLelland regularly speaks at different national and regional events on supply chain trends and innovation.


Tyler Cole, former Director of Carbon Intelligence at Freightwaves and currently with Arcadis

Tyler Cole is a global supply chain thought leader with a passion for decarbonizing value chains, focusing on freight, fuels, and energy. Always a student, Tyler brings a thoughtful tone to the subject of sustainability in an effort to educate, inspire and engage audiences. He thrives at creating spaces for thoughtful discussion around serious issues like sustainability and climate change. He is a net-zero strategy consultant for Arcadis and also host of the Net-Zero Carbon podcast at FreightWaves.


Nick Cookson, Director of ESG at Knight Swift

Nick Cookson joined Knight-Swift Transportation, the largest over-the-road transportation company in North America, in March 2021 in the newly created role of Director Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG). Nick is responsible for the creation and deployment of Knight-Swift’s first ESG strategy, the completion and submittal of non-financial ESG disclosures, and management over climate related risks. Before joining Knight-Swift, Nick worked in higher education (The University of the South and Arizona State University) where he managed climate strategy, student engagement, and sustainability related behavioral change programs. Prior to this, Nick was a Corporate Sustainability Manager at Unum, and has previously held sustainability roles at Tarkett and has sat on the Board of Directors for green|spaces.
