Lucien Scott, a devoted educator, outdoor enthusiast, and environmental advocate is based in the scenic landscapes of Hixson, Tennessee. With a background in Environmental Science from the University of Alabama, he’s made it his life's mission to foster a deep connection between people and the natural world.
Lucien’s life in Chattanooga began amidst the rolling rivers and lush forests of Walden Ridge, where he found solace and inspiration in the untamed beauty of North Chickamauga Creek. Over three decades of whitewater paddling and exploration, this gorge has not only captured his heart but also ignited a passion for conservation and stewardship.
As a math teacher, he believes in the power of education to shape minds and empower individuals to become caretakers of our planet. Alongside his role in the classroom, Lucien’s love for outdoor adventure as a kayak instructor guides others to discover the thrill and serenity of paddling through pristine waters.
His commitment to preserving the natural wonders of North Chickamauga Creek led him to join The North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy's Board of Directors six years ago. Together, they’ve spearheaded projects like the construction of Walden Ridge Park and the designation of the creek as a Class 1 State Scenic River, all while nurturing a vision to protect and conserve the watershed for generations to come.
In every endeavor, whether teaching mathematics or navigating whitewater rapids, Lucien is driven by a deep-seated belief in the importance of protecting our environment for future generations.
