Clean Water Certificate Program:

Enhancing the art of green infrastructure maintenance in Chattanooga

Join us for our upcoming listening session featuring the Clean Water Certificate Program.

This presentation aims to foster discussion on the current state of the local landscape industry and how it can be transformed to embrace and advance the knowledge of green infrastructure installation and maintenance.

Chattanooga currently lacks native plant and green infrastructure businesses with the expertise needed to create and maintain specialized landscapes designed for both function and aesthetics. Through a nationally recognized and ANSI certified training program, the City and green|spaces are committed to expanding the skill set of current landscape professionals and training a new generation of experts.

We are eager to gather feedback from industry professionals and those aspiring to join the field on the potential benefits of a certified workforce.

Bring your input and questions around this initiative to be prepared for a lively discussion.

About the speakers:

Anna Mathis is the Natural Resources Manager for the City of Chattanooga, where she oversees natural resources stewardship and management for the Department of Parks and Outdoors, in collaboration with Stormwater Resources.  Through projects such as grassland establishment, invasive management with grazing, urban tree canopy improvement, and green infrastructure maintenance, she leads and encourages better management practices in the city to achieve a higher level of environmental stewardship.  Anna previously coordinated environmental programs involving the protection and restoration of Virginia's portion of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, working on the grassroots level to encourage landscapes that conserve water, prevent pollution, and create habitat.  She has a Masters in Environmental Management from the Nicholas School for the Environment and Earth Sciences at Duke University.
