green|spaces welcomes Dr. Laura Bass as Director of Operations and Finance
green|spaces, Chattanooga’s sustainability nonprofit, is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Bass as the new Director of Operations and Finance. Laura brings a wealth of experience in higher education administration and a strong commitment to community engagement.
Originally from southwest Louisiana, Laura has been a resident of Chattanooga since 2004. She holds a BA in English from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, an MA in Higher Education Administration from the University of Mississippi, and a PhD in Learning and Leadership from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. With over 18 years of experience in university settings, Laura has a proven track record of improving systems and operations.
In her new role, Laura will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Additionally, she will play a key role in strategic planning, developing operational policies, and improving organizational efficiency. Her goal is to drive sustainable growth while upholding the green|spaces’ commitment to its mission and the community it serves.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Laura is an active volunteer in the Chattanooga community. She has held leadership roles with the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences PTO for over a decade, served on the Board of Directors for the Junior League of Chattanooga, and has been active in the Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute. In 2023, she graduated from Leadership Chattanooga, earning a place in the prestigious "Best Class Ever."
